Ukraine's vegetable market is showing mixed price trends
The Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is seeing a noticeable shift in price trends, characterized by mixed price movements for popular products.
This is reported by the EastFruit project, which analyzes the current situation at the country’s trading venues.
While new-crop cabbage and garden strawberries are actively becoming cheaper, carrots, cucumbers, and last year’s cabbage continue to rise rapidly in price.
The largest price drop was recorded in the early cabbage segment, where market supply is growing rapidly. Its price fell from 34–38 to 18–22 hryvnias per kilogram.
At the same time, last year’s cabbage is showing the opposite trend due to a significant reduction in storage stocks and limited supply. Currently, the price of old stocks has risen from 15–17 to 22–24 hryvnias per kilogram.
Further price increases are also observed in the carrot market, where prices have risen from 16–19 to 20–26 hryvnias per kilogram.
In addition, the price range for potatoes has narrowed, indicating a gradual stabilization of the market following previous significant fluctuations.
Cucumbers have continued to rise in price for the second week in a row—their price jumped from 35–95 to 68–100 hryvnias per kilogram.
Some vegetable items saw price declines this week due to increased seasonal supply from local producers. In particular, zucchini became cheaper, and the cost of cauliflower, napa cabbage, and fresh greens also decreased.
Eggplant, however, went in the opposite direction, showing a sharp price increase from 70–90 to 140–150 hryvnias per kilogram.
