An IMF mission has begun a new review of the loan program in Kyiv

The International Monetary Fund has officially begun its work in Ukraine as part of the first review of the new four-year Extended Fund Facility program

This was publicly announced by Priscilla Tofano, the financial organization’s resident representative in Ukraine.

Representatives of the Fund will hold a series of important meetings with government officials and relevant partners to assess the current state of the economy.

The team of expert lenders is traditionally led by renowned economist Gavin Gray. The main goal of the current visit by foreign experts is a detailed analysis of Ukraine’s compliance with its commitments.

“The IMF mission led by Gavin Gray begins meetings today with Ukrainian government officials and other partners in the context of the first review of the 2026 Extended Fund Facility and Article IV Consultations. Discussions will focus on macroeconomic policy and key structural reforms,” Prishila Tofano specified in her official statement.

Under the current financing program, the parties are set to discuss a number of complex issues and structural benchmarks.

In particular, the agenda includes parameters of macroeconomic stability amid prolonged martial law and the financing of the state budget deficit.

Special attention during the lengthy negotiation process will be given to tax changes and the reform of the public finance management system.
