Customs officials stopped the import of prohibited ballpoint pens from the Netherlands worth 4.6 million hryvnias
At the "Krakivets–Korchova" border crossing, customs officers detected and intercepted a shipment of prohibited ballpoint pens arriving from the Netherlands. The estimated value of the seized goods is approximately 4.6 million UAH. The cargo was being transported in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minivan traveling from Poland. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
The driver, a 35-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, chose the “red corridor” lane for customs inspection and declared the transport of household goods and personal items.
However, during the use of technical customs control equipment, customs officers detected anomalies. During an inspection of the vehicle conducted jointly with border guards, 207 Mounjaro KwikPen pens containing injection solutions manufactured in the Netherlands were discovered.
These goods fall under the category of medicinal products, the circulation of which is prohibited in Ukraine. Their value exceeds 4.6 million hryvnias. Additionally, 70,000 “John James” needles for hand-sewing leather, valued at 560,000 hryvnias, were found in the vehicle.
Based on these facts, reports of customs violations were drawn up in accordance with Part 3 of Article 471 and Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
