The first weekend of August in Ukraine will be marked by intense heat. In a number of regions, temperatures will rise to +38 °C, and sunny, dry weather will prevail throughout the country. Only in some western regions are brief thunderstorms possible late Sunday.

Sunny, dry, and very hot weather is expected in the western regions. 

No precipitation is forecast. Winds will be light, 3–8 m/s.

Daytime temperatures: +33…+38 °C.

In northern Ukraine, it will be partly cloudy with no precipitation. Winds will be 3–8 m/s.

Daytime temperatures: +28…+33 °C.

In the central regions, sunny and hot weather will continue with no precipitation.

Daytime temperatures: +28…+33 °C.

The south of the country will also be hot and dry. Wind speeds will range from 5 to 10 m/s.

Daytime temperatures: +29…+34 °C.

Sunny weather with no precipitation is forecast for the eastern regions. Winds of 5–10 m/s.

Daytime temperatures: +26…+31 °C.

On Sunday, it will be hottest in western Ukraine, where temperatures will reach +33…+38 °C. Only in the evening are brief thunderstorms possible in some areas of the Carpathian Foothills and Volyn.

In the north, dry and hot weather will continue. Temperatures will be:

  • at night: +14…+19 °C;
  • during the day: +29…+34 °C.

The central regions will also be sunny and dry:

  • at night: +15…+20 °C;
  • during the day: +31…+36 °C.

In the south, under the influence of a high-pressure system, no precipitation is expected:

  • at night: +17…+22 °C;
  • during the day: +30…+35 °C.

In the east of the country, sunny and dry weather is forecast:

  • at night: +14…+19 °C;
  • during the day: +28…+33 °C.

According to forecasters, the highest temperatures this weekend will be recorded in western Ukraine, but starting Monday, the hot air will spread to most of the country.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center notes that it is not yet possible to determine the exact duration of the heatwave, but next week is expected to be warmer than this week.

This was reported by meteorologist Ihor Kibalchych.

As a reminder, the June heatwave in Europe led to significant losses in agriculture. The cost of the destroyed grain crops is estimated at more than 2 billion euros, with farmers in France and Hungary suffering the most.

A new heat wave with temperatures reaching +35° will hit Ukraine in early August.

The heatwave in Belgium caused the highest rate of excess mortality in Europe.
