In the Middle East, more Patriot missiles were used in three days than Ukraine has had in total
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported during a briefing on March 5, 2026, that to repel Iranian attacks in the Middle East, more than 800 PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems were expended in just the first three days of the conflict.
According to the head of state, this number exceeds the entire stock of such missiles that Ukraine has received for defending its skies against Russian strikes throughout the entire period of the full-scale war. In the face of this critical shortage, Kyiv is conducting active consultations with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan, offering partners unique Ukrainian expertise in exchange for air defense systems.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready for mutually beneficial technological exchange: providing its own drone interceptors in exchange for scarce PAC-3 missiles. The military leadership has already determined the production volumes of these anti-drone systems, which Ukrainian factories can manufacture in a short time with proper support from partners. This strategy aims not only to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian cities but also to offer Middle Eastern countries combat-tested solutions against Iranian technologies, which the enemy uses in both theaters of military operations.
Zelensky discussed the threat of Iranian missiles and “Shahed” drones with the King of Jordan.
