A soldier was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to hire someone to kill his mother-in-law
The court found the serviceman guilty of attempted premeditated murder committed on someone else’s orders and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
Prosecutors from the Kropyvnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region proved that the man decided to organize the murder of his own mother-in-law, whom he blamed for family conflicts and his divorce from his wife.
According to the investigation, the convicted man was convinced that the woman was interfering in his family life, so he decided to get rid of her.
To carry out his plan, he found an accomplice who agreed to take on the “job.” The man gave him photographs of his mother-in-law, information about her travel routes, and an advance payment of 11,000 hryvnias.
However, the potential “hitman” reported the crime to law enforcement and subsequently acted under their supervision.
In January 2026, law enforcement staged the woman’s murder at her residence. Afterward, the hitman sent the client photographs of the allegedly deceased woman as proof that the task had been completed.
Immediately after receiving the evidence, the serviceman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 15 and Paragraph 11 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—attempted premeditated murder committed on commission.
