Zelenskyy Responded to the Death of Senator Graham, Who Supported Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his condolences following the death of U.S. Senator Graham. According to him, the senator visited Ukraine 10 times since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion and had been working on important initiatives to end the war in recent weeks.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the family of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, his loved ones, and his colleagues.
According to the head of state, Graham was a champion of freedom and the values that make the world a safer place.
“He visited Ukraine ten times during the years of Russia’s full-scale invasion and was here, alongside our people, when it was needed most. We were in constant dialogue, which I will miss. Just in the last week, we met twice,” Zelenskyy noted.
The president said that Graham actively supported Ukraine at the bipartisan and bicameral levels in the U.S., and in recent weeks had been working on initiatives aimed at bringing peace closer, including strengthening sanctions against Russia.
“We will always be especially grateful for his words of respect for our people and for the courage of Ukraine’s defenders. America and the world have lost a resolute leader,” Zelenskyy wrote.
On the evening of July 11, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and ally of Donald Trump died in the U.S. at the age of 72. According to the politician’s office, he passed away following a sudden and brief illness.
The day before his death, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham visited the production facilities of the Ukrainian miltech company SkyFall, where he familiarized himself with the latest developments in the field of unmanned technologies. During the visit, he praised the quality of Ukrainian engineering solutions and emphasized the importance of cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the field of defense innovation.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, First Class, to U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, the authors of anti-Russian sanctions. European politicians also received awards.
