In Chernihiv Oblast, a man was convicted of murdering a soldier
In the Chernihiv region, the Bobrovytsia District Court sentenced a 20-year-old resident of Oster to prison for the intentional murder of a serviceman.
This was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred during the defendant’s birthday celebration at a café in the city. A conflict arose between the guests and the servicemember, who was on rotation.
During the altercation, the man kicked the victim in the head. As a result of a closed head injury, the soldier died at the scene.
During the trial, the defendant did not admit guilt. The court found him guilty of murder committed out of hooliganism and sentenced him to 11 years in prison.
In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay 2.5 million hryvnias in compensation for emotional distress to the victims.
“The convicted man will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final,” the prosecutor’s office stated.
Earlier, the perpetrator stabbed a TCC servicemember on the morning of April 6 in the Industrial District of Kharkiv during a check of military registration documents.
According to preliminary reports, a civilian man attacked the soldiers with a knife. As a result of the attack, one of the soldiers sustained a stab wound to the abdomen.
As a reminder, a brazen attack on military personnel of the alert group occurred in Vinnytsia. A man stabbed two representatives of the Territorial Defense Corps.
On March 31, an incident occurred between civilians and military personnel of the alert group in the village of Sosonka, Vinnytsia Oblast.
Earlier, the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support launched an internal investigation into the use of a weapon by a soldier.
