In Uzhhorod, special forces detained a man who was holding a family hostage

On June 11, special police officers from the Rapid Response Unit (KORD) conducted a successful special operation on June 11 and detained an armed man who had barricaded himself inside a house in Uzhhorod with his wife and their five-year-old child. 

Law enforcement received reports around 4:40 p.m. today that a man was threatening his wife with a gun in one of the city’s neighborhoods, and that gunshots could be heard.

By the time police units arrived, the perpetrator had locked himself inside the home and refused to communicate with law enforcement. Given the danger, KORD special forces stormed the premises and neutralized the armed offender. Special forces ensured the safe evacuation of the woman and child from the building; currently, their lives and health are not in danger. Initial investigative actions are ongoing at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

In Lviv, a man who took a 13-year-old girl hostage while fleeing from the TCC was arrested.

Law enforcement officers used their service firearms to repel the attack during a call in the village of Seredniy Bereziv, Kosiv District. The incident occurred after medical personnel complained about the aggressive behavior of an unknown man who threatened them with violence.
