Ukraine and Poland have agreed not to restrict bus traffic through Medyka

Ukraine and Poland have agreed not to restrict bus traffic through Medyka

Ukraine and Poland have reached a compromise under which passenger buses will continue to pass through the "Shehyni–Medyka" border crossing without interruption throughout the summer.

The Polish side had planned to temporarily suspend the processing of such vehicles entering the country due to scheduled maintenance work at the facility.

The issue of maintaining stable transport links was promptly addressed during bilateral talks between the relevant government agencies, with the active support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland. The cancellation of potential restrictions at one of the busiest border crossings will help avoid significant difficulties for citizens during the summer vacation period. The agreement also guarantees the usual border crossing routes and stable operations for international passenger carriers.

This was announced on his Telegram channel by Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba.

It was reported that large-scale repair work will begin at the “Shehyni–Medyka” checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, which will prevent buses from crossing the border from Ukraine to Poland from June 15, 2026, until November 2027.

Previously, at the “Medyka” border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border, technical issues arose with the Polish Border Guard’s database, causing delays in processing vehicles and passengers.

At the Ukrainian-Polish border, the “Medyka–Shehyni” border crossing point will temporarily operate with restrictions due to road repairs on the Polish side.
