Special measures have been implemented in the Dnipropetrovsk region due to a locust infestation
New outbreaks of migratory locusts have been detected in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Due to the massive proliferation of the pest in the Novopokrovska community of the Dniprovskyi district, special plant protection measures have been implemented.
These measures will cover an area of 60 hectares. Experts will conduct ongoing monitoring and survey agricultural land, pastures, forest strips, riparian areas, and abandoned plots.
If the locust population exceeds the permissible threshold, plant protection products and mechanical methods will be used to destroy the pests’ breeding sites. Beekeepers will be notified in advance of any treatments.
The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has called on farmers and local residents to remain vigilant and report any mass gatherings of locusts.
