A Ukrainian Armed Forces commander was arrested in the Kharkiv region for attempting to sell nearly 500 kg of TNT
On September 11, in the Kharkiv region, the SBU’s military counterintelligence unit, in cooperation with the National Police, detained a commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who, according to the investigation, attempted to organize the illegal sale of nearly 500 kg of TNT. Law enforcement officials stated that this was one of the largest shipments of explosives that had been targeted for illegal sale since the start of the full-scale war.
As a result of preemptive operations in the Kharkiv region, the commander of one of the units of a Ukrainian Armed Forces mechanized brigade was detained while attempting to illegally sell nearly 500 kg of TNT.
The investigation revealed that he had been seeking potential buyers through specialized Telegram channels and promised clients that he would personally deliver the “goods” in his official vehicle.
SBU officers caught the suspect “red-handed” near a military unit in the Chuhuiv district while he was selling the explosives.
It was established that the suspect stored the TNT in pre-prepared caches in the frontline territory of the region where his unit was temporarily stationed.

At the scene of the arrest, the entire batch of explosives prepared for sale was seized from the suspect, along with a smartphone containing evidence of his contacts with clients.
The suspect has been formally charged under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances).

The suspect is being held in custody. He faces up to 7 years in prison.
Investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify all persons involved.
Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Eastern Region in the field of defense.
