A large-scale cleanup is underway at Lake Kyrylivske following the Russian Federation's attack

Work to clean up the aftermath of the Russian shelling at Lake Kyrylivske in Kyiv has been ongoing for the second week. Rescue workers continue to remove pollutants from the lake and assure that the work will continue until the ecological situation is fully restored.

At Lake Kyrylivske in the capital, rescue workers are continuing their efforts to clean up the aftermath of the Russian shelling. For the second week in a row, specialists have been cleaning the lake of pollution caused by the enemy attack. According to the rescue workers, a film of pollutants has formed on the lake’s surface. Its approximate thickness ranges from 1 to 3 millimeters.

To prevent the pollution from spreading further, special booms have been installed on the lake. In total, rescue workers have deployed 480 meters of sorbent booms, which absorb the pollutants, as well as 550 meters of permanently buoyant booms that prevent the pollutants from spreading across the water’s surface. During the cleanup operations, 314 cubic meters of pollutants have already been collected from the body of water.

The State Emergency Service notes that cleanup efforts are ongoing. Specialists are working on-site daily to minimize environmental damage and prevent the ecological situation from worsening. “The work will continue until the consequences of the lake’s contamination have been fully eliminated and the environmental situation has stabilized,” the rescue workers reported. Currently, specialists continue to monitor the lake’s condition and, if necessary, install additional measures to contain the contamination. Rescue workers emphasize that all work will continue until the lake is completely cleaned up and the threat to the environment is eliminated. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
