In the Kyiv region, a man opened fire near a playground

In Vasylkiv, in the Obukhiv district, a man wounded two local residents with a non-lethal pistol. The shooting took place near a playground, and the suspect faces up to seven years in prison.

Law enforcement officials determined that in the evening, an unknown man approached a group of people, made a remark, and began swearing. One of the men in the group tried to approach the aggressor, but the man punched him twice in the face. Immediately afterward, the assailant took a rubber bullet gun out of his shoulder bag and fired at least ten shots at both men.

The two victims, aged 42 and 30, were taken to a medical facility with non-penetrating gunshot wounds.

Officers from the Vasylkiv Police Department, in cooperation with officers from the Kyiv Regional Police Criminal Investigation Department, quickly identified the assailant. He turned out to be a 32-year-old local resident. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized physical evidence from the suspect’s residence.

Under the procedural supervision of the Obukhiv District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified the detainee that he was suspected of hooliganism committed using an object specifically prepared to inflict bodily harm (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation is ongoing, according to the Kyiv Region Police.
