The Rada Denied Reports That Lawmakers Were on Vacation
The Verkhovna Rada continues to operate during the recess in plenary sessions. Members of Parliament are participating in the work of committees, working groups, temporary investigative commissions, and special commissions.
This was reported to journalists by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat.
“There is a widespread misconception about ‘vacation’ and a ‘break.’ We would like to remind everyone that parliament does not work only in the session hall. Parliament continues to work without interruption,” the Verkhovna Rada noted.
The Rada reminded that, in addition to their work in the chamber, members of parliament review bills and make decisions at committee meetings; work in working groups on bills and amendments to them; participate in parliamentary hearings; serve on temporary investigative and special commissions; and work within factions and deputy groups, preparing for further consideration of issues in the session hall.
“Therefore, the Verkhovna Rada is not taking a break but continues to work without interruption. The work of committees, subcommittees, working groups, temporary investigative commissions, and parliamentary factions continues,” the parliament’s press service stated, as reported by Ukrinform.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Bill No. 15358 in principle, which establishes liability for operating vehicles that exceed permissible noise levels.
On September 17, the Verkhovna Rada considered the issue of an honorary title for Oleksiy Potapenko, known as Potap. Lawmakers voted to send an appeal to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the revocation of the artist’s title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine.” The motion received 198 votes in favor out of the required 226, so it was not adopted.
