NABU has opened a case against former Dynamo coach Shovkovskyi for extortion
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has confirmed reports that a case has been opened against the former head coach of the "Dynamo" soccer club. The case involves possible extortion. According to media reports, the individual in question may be Oleksandr Shovkovskyi.
The NABU statement says that on August 13, 2026, the National Bureau received a ruling from an investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court, in which he orderedthe Bureau’s authorized officials to enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations based on a report dated July 21, 2026, regarding possible extortion of funds on an especially large scale under martial law.
“In compliance with the court’s decision, on the same day, detectives from the National Bureau entered the relevant information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations with a preliminary legal classification under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Since, in accordance with Part 5 of Article 216 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the investigation of this criminal offense does not fall under the jurisdiction of the National Bureau, on August 25, 2026, a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office issued a ruling assigning jurisdiction to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv,” the NABU reported on its Facebook page.
This may refer to a dispute over premises for a shooting range in Kyiv and the sum of $250,000 invested in renovations. The complaint was filed by the landlord (former People’s Deputy Anatoliy Pysarenko). He is also facing charges of abusing his status as a member of parliament.
The former “Dynamo” coach himself categorically rejected all accusations and called the incident a long-standing property dispute over the lease of the premises by the company “TAKTICA,” of which his wife is a co-owner.
As a reminder, former head coach of Kyiv’s “Dynamo,” Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, stood by the team’s goalkeeper, Vyacheslav Surkis, following a disappointing match against “Bukovyna.”
For the first time, Oleksandr Shovkovskyi stated directly and without mincing words that he is currently unemployed following his departure from Kyiv’s “Dynamo.” The legendary goalkeeper and former coach acknowledged his current status during a conversation with a blogger, adding a touch of irony to his remarks.
