In the Kyiv region, the prosecutor's office is seeking the recovery of more than 8.2 million hryvnias in excess spending during the construction of a school
The Fastiv District Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv Commercial Court seeking to recover more than 8.2 million hryvnias in damages from a construction company on behalf of the Chabany Village Council. These funds were unjustifiably transferred from the community budget during the construction of a secondary school for 720 students in the village of Chabany.
While carrying out the work in 2019–2020, the contractor included in the certificates of completion costs for materials and structures that were not actually used. In particular, expert examinations confirmed that costs for aluminum doors, stained-glass windows, thermal insulation, waterproofing materials, and sidewalk pavers were overstated. According to three certificates of completion, the total amount overpaid exceeded 8.22 million hryvnias, which prosecutors are demanding be returned to the local budget.
