In the Lviv region, a man set himself on fire following a dispute with his mother-in-law
In the Stryi District of Lviv Oblast, a 51-year-old man set fire to a building in his mother-in-law’s yard and then set himself on fire. According to local sources, the victim was taken to the intensive care unit in critical condition, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful—the man died from his burns.
According to the Lviv Regional Police, the incident occurred on Sunday, June 7, in one of the villages in the Stryi district. Around 7:40 a.m., following a dispute with a relative, the 51-year-old local resident set fire to a farm building on her property using gasoline. He then went to his own home, where he doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire.
Police officers who arrived at the scene rescued the man and ensured he received the necessary medical care. He was subsequently hospitalized.
The Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine told ZAXID.NET that the victim was hospitalized with third- and fourth-degree burns covering 98% of his body. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the patient died in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
According to ZAXID.NET, the incident occurred in the village of Berezhnytsia in the Stryi community. The man set himself on fire following a conflict with his mother-in-law.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a contract to purchase body-worn cameras for military personnel worth nearly 291 million hryvnias.
An official from the “Municipal Security” agency will face trial over the purchase of substandard body cameras.
