Traffic on a major bridge in Lviv Oblast will be closed due to repairs

Traffic on a major bridge in Lviv Oblast will be closed due to repairs

Starting at 10:00 a.m. on April 27, traffic on the bridge along the M-09 Ternopil–Lviv–Rava-Ruska highway (km 141+459) within the village of Kulykiv will be completely closed due to the start of repair work. The estimated duration of the restoration work is three months, and completion is scheduled for July 27, 2026.

This was reported by the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine.

Before the closure, the contractor will complete the application of asphalt concrete pavement on the access road to the village to provide drivers with a convenient alternative route. The detour around the section will follow a temporary route plan that has already been agreed upon with the Patrol Police and the Lviv Regional State Administration.

The project is coordinated by the state-owned enterprise “Reconstruction Project Management Group,” and the work itself is being carried out on behalf of the Agency for Reconstruction. The bridge repair is part of a broader strategy to maintain safety on strategic logistics routes toward the border with Poland.

Drivers are asked to plan their trips in advance, follow posted road signs, and account for possible traffic delays. The Agency emphasizes the importance of infrastructure upgrades to ensure uninterrupted transport connections.

These measures are taking place against the backdrop of a prolonged systemic recession in the Russian Federation, which officially began in April 2026, while Ukraine continues to allocate resources to modernize its own transportation routes. The current condition of the bridge requires immediate intervention to prevent future emergencies.

A detour map will be published on the official resources of the Lviv Region Restoration Service in the near future. Currently, preparatory work on the approaches to the site is proceeding as scheduled. Full restoration of traffic on the M-09 highway is expected by the end of July.

Previously, experts concluded that the Paton Bridge in Kyiv can be used, but only provided that established restrictions are observed. This decision was made at a technical meeting where traffic safety and critical conditions for drivers were discussed.

The Kyiv City Council and its executive body are required to ensure the proper technical condition of the Paton Bridge using funds from the city budget.
