In the Lviv region, a truck collided with the Przemyśl–Kyiv train
Today, April 21, 2026, a dangerous traffic accident occurred at a railroad crossing in the Lviv region.
A truck drove onto the tracks directly in front of passenger train No. 64, which was traveling on the “Przemyśl–Kyiv” route, causing a collision with the locomotive.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the incident was caused by gross negligence on the part of the truck driver at the controlled crossing.
Despite functioning audible and visual signals warning of the train’s approach, the driver ignored the stop signals and drove onto the dangerous section of the road.
The railway company officially confirmed that none of the passengers or train crew members were injured as a result of the accident.
The passenger train cars remained intact, but the locomotive sustained mechanical damage from the impact with the multi-ton vehicle.
The perpetrator’s behavior immediately after the collision caused particular outrage.
Instead of providing assistance or waiting for law enforcement, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving his vehicle or its wreckage on the tracks.
“Once again, a driver’s carelessness at a controlled railroad crossing nearly led to a tragedy. A truck in the Lviv region ‘failed to notice’ the functioning audible and visual warning signals and collided with the locomotive of Train No. 64 ‘Przemyśl–Kyiv,’” the carrier’s press service noted.
Currently, police and emergency services are working at the scene to determine all the circumstances of the incident and locate the fleeing driver.
Train service on the line may experience temporary schedule changes due to the ongoing investigation and technical inspection of the tracks.
