A group selling counterfeit electronics and clothing was busted in the Lviv region

The Lviv Regional Cyber Police documented the activities of a group that was selling counterfeit electronics and producing counterfeit clothing from a well-known brand. In December 2025, law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches at the residences of residents in the region.

During the investigation, authorities seized cell phones, computer equipment, watches, nearly 500 counterfeit headphones bearing the logo of a popular manufacturer, sewing supplies, rolls of fabric, tags from counterfeit products of a well-known clothing brand, over 1 million hryvnias, notes, and other documentation.

During the investigation, cyber police identified a number of social media accounts, as well as online store profiles on e-commerce platforms, which the dealers used to sell the aforementioned products online, promising buyers quality on par with original brands.

The documented amount of losses incurred by the rights holders totals approximately 98 million hryvnias.

BEB detectives have charged eight suspects under Part 3 of Article 229 (Illegal use of a trademark for goods and services, a trade name, or a qualified indication of the origin of goods) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For such offenses, members of the group face a fine of up to fifteen thousand non-taxable minimum incomes, along with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
