On Rosh Hashanah, 50,000 Hasidim arrived in Uman; 41,000 have already left
This year, approximately 50,000 Hasidic pilgrims arrived in Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations, 41,000 of whom have already left Ukraine over the past two days.
The mass influx of pilgrims began in the late 20s of August, with the peak period of arrivals occurring last week—from Monday through Thursday. A total of 46,000 pilgrims traveled to Ukraine as part of organized groups, which is significantly more than in 2025. Taking into account unorganized groups and individuals who were already in the country, the total number of pilgrims in Uman reached about 50,000.
On Sunday and Monday, 41,000 Hasidic Jews left Ukraine, and the remaining pilgrims will depart the country in the coming days.
This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, during a briefing at Ukrinform.
Uman’s municipal services removed more than 200 metric tons of waste from the pilgrimage area after the Rosh Hashanah celebrations ended.
