A 5-year-old boy died after being shot in the head in the Odesa region
In the Odesa region, a 29-year-old man has been notified that he is suspected of the intentional murder of a 5-year-old boy. According to investigators, the child sustained a fatal head wound from a shot fired from an air rifle.
Law enforcement officials believe the shot was fired by the mother’s live-in partner. Investigators are currently working to determine all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
A few days ago, medical personnel notified law enforcement that the boy had been hospitalized in critical condition. The child’s mother said that her son had allegedly been injured in the yard while playing with his younger sister. The boy later died in the hospital.
During the autopsy, a pellet from an air gun was found in his head. According to preliminary data, this injury was the cause of death. Law enforcement officials have determined that the 29-year-old partner of the boy’s mother was involved in the child’s death.
According to investigators, the man was with his partner’s five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter on the outskirts of the village, where he was shooting an air rifle.
While shooting, the man aimed the weapon at the boy and shot him in the head. Afterward, he brought the children home and told their mother that her son had supposedly injured himself by falling off a ladder.
During an inspection of the crime scene and a search of the family’s home, investigators seized a number of pieces of evidence, including the air rifle. These items were sent for forensic analysis.
The man was detained. He has been notified that he is suspected of the intentional murder of a minor child. The court ordered the suspect to be held in custody without the right to bail.
