In the Odesa region, the active search for a 10-year-old girl who was swept out to sea has been called off

Rescuers have completed the active phase of the search for a 10-year-old girl who was swept out to sea by the current on June 19 near the village of Sychavka in the Odesa region.

This was reported by Marina Martynenko, spokesperson for the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast.

According to her, after the child went missing, Navy personnel discovered her inflatable ring in the sea. For five days, rescuers searched the water, the surface, and the seabed, but the search yielded no results.

The State Emergency Service noted that the active search operation was suspended due to a lack of results and dangerous conditions at the unguarded beach where the specialists were working.

As a reminder, the girl was relaxing by the sea with her great-grandmother when a strong current began to carry her away from the shore on her inflatable ring.
