In the Odesa region, the sale of positions at the High Council of Justice for $8,000 was uncovered

In the Odesa region, law enforcement officials uncovered and shut down a scheme involving illegal recruitment into the Military Law Enforcement Service. According to the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), positions were being sold for $8,000. Investigations are currently underway to identify all those involved in the scheme.

What is known

The head of one of the departments of a state-owned enterprise in the field of maritime security organized a "side hustle" for himself. He sought out people willing to be employed by the Military Law Enforcement Service, and his acquaintance, who held a managerial position in a unit of the Military Law Enforcement Service, approved the candidates.

It is noted that the cost of the "service" was $8,000. 

What are the consequences

The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) reported that on April 23, 2026, law enforcement officers detained the suspects after a portion of the agreed-upon sum was transferred.

They have been notified of suspicion of abuse of influence committed by a group of individuals acting in concert (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspects have been placed under a preventive measure—detention for a period of 60 days, with an alternative bail of 1 million hryvnias.

The penalty under this article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment. 
 

The organizer of the “cars for the Armed Forces” scheme, which caused losses of over 4 million hryvnias, was extradited to Ukraine.

Also, an employee of the Territorial Recruitment Center in Chernihiv Oblast was detained for bribery.
