According to Kharchenko, the accident occurred at a pumping station with outdated equipment.
Due to the malfunction, water supply was cut off in a number of settlements occupied by Russia back in 2014.
Residents of Alchevsk, Perevalsk, Bryanka, Kadiivka, and 34 other settlements were left without water.
“Yet another emergency at a pumping station with outdated equipment has led to the suspension of water supply to hundreds of thousands of residents of the ‘LPR.’ Thus, in the heat, residents of Alchevsk, Perevalsk, Bryanka, Kadiivka, and 34 other settlements were left without drinking water. All of these settlements were seized 12 years ago. Only emergency repairs are being carried out on the equipment,” Kharchenko wrote.
The head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration emphasized that the occupying authorities are not paying sufficient attention to the condition of pumping stations and critical infrastructure.
Due to the prolonged use of outdated equipment, emergencies in the life-support systems of occupied Luhansk Oblast remain a recurring problem.
