A woman was arrested in the Carpathian region for beating her 15-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, law enforcement officers detained a 44-year-old woman from the Solotvyno community who is suspected of brutally beating her 15-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy. The boy, who suffered numerous injuries, was hospitalized. Police say this was not the first incident of domestic violence in this family.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on the night of June 26. Law enforcement officials claim that the woman was intoxicated and was trying to feed her son. Due to cerebral palsy, the teenager is unable to sit, walk, eat, or speak on his own. According to the police, when the boy refused to eat, the woman began hitting him on the legs and face. She then slammed the child’s head against the wall twice.
The victim was taken to the regional children’s hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with contusions, bruises, and abrasions. After examining him, they immediately reported the incident to law enforcement.
During the investigation, police determined that, according to their information, this was not an isolated incident of domestic violence. “Since 2024, the 44-year-old suspect has been held administratively liable twice for physical and psychological abuse of her two older sons. In addition, the court had placed her on probation for theft, and the family was under the supervision of the relevant social services,” the police reported.
The woman was detained. She has been charged under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—“Torture.” If found guilty in court, she faces up to six years in prison. Law enforcement officials are continuing the pretrial investigation and establishing all the circumstances of the case. The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Police reported the arrest.
