In the village of Ugli in the Rivne region, search operations have been completed in an area believed to be the site of a possible mass grave of victims of the events of 1943.
According to Sviatoslav Sheremeta, director of the “Dolia” Memorial and Search Center, no mass grave was discovered during the investigation.
Experts surveyed over 1,000 square meters of the old cemetery and adjacent areas. Only one atypical burial was found, which requires further investigation.
As Sheremeta noted, information about the possible burial site was based on family accounts, as there are no eyewitnesses to those events remaining.
Currently, the organizers of the work plan to gather additional data to identify other possible sites for further searches.
In the village of Uhly, Sarny District, Rivne Region, search and exhumation work for victims of World War II has begun.
As a reminder, in May 2025, the exhumation of victims of the Volhynia tragedy, conducted by a Ukrainian-Polish expedition, was completed. A mass grave containing the remains of 42 people was found. Among them were 10 children.
