In the village of Byshlyak in Rivne Oblast, a two-year-old boy from a large family drowned in a ditch near his home. The child was playing in the yard with his brothers and sisters and then ran unnoticed beyond the property line.
This was reported by the Rivne Regional Police.
The parents immediately began searching on their own after noticing their son was missing. Later, a 54-year-old neighbor found the boy’s lifeless body and called law enforcement. The police received a report of the incident on May 17 at around 11:30 p.m.
The family raising the child had not previously been on any preventive watch lists. Police investigators have opened a criminal case and are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the incident as a possible homicide, with the note “accidental death,” in order to fully establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.
