A foam plastic factory in the Rivne region caught fire for the second time in two months
On September 29, a fire broke out on the premises of the “Stolit” TM – “Isoterm-S” foreign-invested enterprise in the village of Varkovychi, Dubno District, Rivne Oblast. This is the second fire at the plant in the last two months.
As of 9:30 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the blaze. They then continued to douse the structures and investigate the cause of the fire.
Community officials urged residents not to panic and to obtain information only from official sources.
“We ask citizens not to panic and to trust only official sources of information. There is no threat to the lives or safety of the population,” the statement reads.
A previous fire at the facility occurred on August 11, 2026. At that time, the fire caused significant damage to the facility.
Specifically, the fire destroyed:
- a 1,000-square-meter expanded polystyrene workshop;
- a 200-square-meter section of the preparation workshop;
- a finished goods warehouse with an area of 4,400 square meters;
- a 100 kW solar power plant;
- equipment;
- a trailer;
- dry vegetation.
Following the August fire, experts also took air samples and recorded elevated concentrations of certain pollutants.
PII “Isoterm-S” is a Rivne-based manufacturer of building materials, registered in 2002.
The company’s main line of business is the production of plastic panels, sheets, pipes, and profiles.
The company operates under the “Stolit” trademark. Under this brand, the company manufactures expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation, dry construction mixes, adhesives, paints, and primers.
Rescue workers and relevant specialists are investigating the causes of the second fire at the facility.
The Varkovychi rural territorial community reported the fire.
As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, September 29, local media and Telegram channels reported a possible strike on a dog shelter in the Odesa region.
