An enemy agent who spied while wearing a Ukrainian Armed Forces uniform was convicted in Sumy Oblast
Based on evidence presented by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court found a 45-year-old resident of the Sumy region guilty of treason under martial law. The traitor was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with all his property confiscated.
Prosecutors fully proved in court that the man had been recruited by representatives of Russian special services via one of the popular messaging apps.
After receiving instructions from his handler in Russia, the agent traveled through the city of Sumy and the region’s border areas, disguised in a Ukrainian Armed Forces uniform, recording the deployment locations of Ukrainian defenders, the positions of military equipment, and the movement routes of Defense Forces units. He transmitted the collected intelligence, complete with precise geolocations, to the enemy in the form of screenshots of digital maps. During the court hearing, the man never admitted his guilt.
