Following Vygivsky's resignation, Tsutsikiridze will serve as acting head of the National Police

On July 16, Ivan Vygivsky was dismissed from his position as head of the National Police of Ukraine. Until a new head is appointed, First Deputy Maksym Tsutsikiridze will serve as acting head.

According to sources, this is a temporary arrangement. The government plans to determine who will become the new permanent head of the National Police in the near future.

On Thursday, July 16, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky signed an order dismissing Ivan Vygivsky from his position as head of the National Police of Ukraine. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources, the first deputy head of the agency, Maksim Tsutsikiridze, has been tasked with temporarily performing the duties of the National Police chief.

According to one of the publication’s sources, this decision does not mean that a new head has been permanently appointed. “Tsutsikiridze is simply serving as acting head. Who will become the new head of the National Police will be decided tomorrow,” the source told RBC-Ukraine. Another source also confirmed that Maksym Tsutsikiridze will currently serve as acting head of the National Police.

Thus, following personnel changes in the law enforcement agency’s leadership, the National Police will operate under the leadership of an interim acting head until the authorities make a decision regarding a new head. There is currently no official information regarding the candidate for the future head of the National Police. The reasons for Ivan Vygivsky’s dismissal have not been disclosed either.

It is expected that a decision regarding the new head of the National Police may be announced in the near future. Until then, Maksym Tsutsikiridze will exercise all the powers of the agency’s head. This is according to an order issued by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.

On July 16, rallies in support of Mykhailo Fedorov took place for the second time that day in Kyiv, Lviv, and Lutsk, following reports of his resignation as defense minister. Participants called on the authorities to continue the reforms that have already begun and to transparently select the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
