A man was detained in the Ternopil region after promising, for $15,000, to influence the court and law enforcement officials

Police in the Ternopil region detained a man who promised, for 15,000 U.S. dollars, to help someone avoid liability for a traffic accident. According to law enforcement officials, he claimed to be able to influence officials at the district court and law enforcement agencies.

As it turned out, in early July, a 26-year-old driver of a Range Rover lost control of the vehicle, veered into a ditch, and rolled over. Two passengers in the car were injured in the accident. Police investigators have opened a criminal case regarding this incident.

On the same day, a man contacted the father of the driver responsible for the accident and offered to resolve the issue for his son. The middleman claimed to have influence over officials at the district court, as well as good connections within various law enforcement agencies. He claimed the judges would therefore make the “right” decision regarding his son. The service cost $15,000.

Police detained the suspect immediately after he received the full amount of money. The suspect has already been notified of the charges against him, according to the National Police.

As a reminder, a deserter who was passing information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russia was detained in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
