A draft dodger with fake disability documents was caught at the Hungarian border

Border guards from the Chop Detachment detained a man who was attempting to travel to Hungary using forged disability documents. The incident occurred at the “Chop (Druzhba)” railway checkpoint during a passenger inspection on the train.

This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.

A 37-year-old Ukrainian citizen of draft age presented inspectors with a disability ID card and a corresponding certificate. However, the border patrol quickly determined that the forms and security features of the documents did not match official samples and showed clear signs of forgery. The detainee admitted that he had purchased this set of documents from an acquaintance for $3,000.

An investigative team from the National Police was called to the scene. The man was removed from the flight and handed over to law enforcement. His actions are considered to constitute a crime under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery of documents, stamps, or forms, or their use), regarding which the border guards sent an official report to the police. In total, since the beginning of the year, representatives of the Chop Detachment have recorded about 40 cases of the use of forged or invalid documents.
