This weekend, Ukraine is expected to experience true spring warmth, with temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius in some areas. At the same time, some regions will see brief showers and thunderstorms, with hail and squalls possible in places. The weather will be changeable but generally comfortable for late May. This coming weekend, May 23 and 24, Ukraine will experience a mix of warm weather and localized thunderstorms: most of the country will remain dry, but in some regions, the weather may change drastically throughout the day. This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Forecasters note that in the southern, eastern, and parts of the central regions, short-lived rains and thunderstorms are possible during the day, in some places with hail and squalls of up to 15–20 m/s. In the southeastern regions, temperatures will rise to nearly summer-like levels of +30 degrees. “Over the next three days, conditions will be mostly dry; on May 23 during the day in the southern, eastern, and most central regions, and on May 24 and 25 in the southeastern part of the country—short-lived rain and thunderstorms, and in some areas, hail and squalls of 15–20 m/s,” according to a statement from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Nighttime temperatures will range from 9 to 17 degrees, with some areas in the western regions being slightly cooler. Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 21 to 26 degrees, and up to 30 degrees in the southeast.
Forecasters also warn that such weather conditions may complicate the work of energy, construction, and utility services, as well as affect traffic. Winds will be predominantly from the north at 5–10 m/s, and from the southeast in the eastern regions. In Kyiv and the surrounding region, the weekend will be calmer: no precipitation, with comfortable temperatures up to +24 degrees during the day.
Thus, Ukrainians can expect a warm weekend with a summery feel, but with local weather surprises in the form of thunderstorms and squalls.
