In Zakarpattia, border guards detained the organizer of an escape scheme across the Tisa River
Operatives from the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment apprehended a 30-year-old woman from Zakarpattia who was attempting to smuggle a man subject to military conscription into Romania.
The suspect and her “client”—a 29-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih—were discovered near the Tisa River while attempting to cross the state border.
The local woman charged $7,000 for her services.
For this amount, the organizer provided the “tourist” with temporary housing, gave detailed instructions on a safe route, and directly coordinated the attempt to cross the border.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine directly at the scene of the crime.
The woman has already been notified of her status as a suspect in a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.”
Law enforcement officers are continuing their investigation to identify all individuals who may be involved in this criminal scheme.
