In Zakarpattia, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) has joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine
Hieromonk Nestor Medvedchuk has ceased his ministry within the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and joined the Mukachevo-Carpathian Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Following his transfer, he received a new ecclesiastical assignment in Uzhhorod.
Thus, in Transcarpathia, another member of the clergy has changed jurisdictions, leaving the Moscow Patriarchate and continuing his ministry within the ranks of the OCU.
On June 9, Bishop Victor Bed of Mukachevo and the Carpathians met with Hieromonk Nestor Medvedchuk, who had previously served as a cleric at the Holy-Trinity Monastery of the Khust Diocese of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate in Khust-Gorodilov.
During the meeting, the clergyman announced his departure from the clergy of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate and requested to be admitted to the Mukachevo-Carpathian Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The clergyman was also assigned to the Cathedral of St. Andrew the First-Called in Uzhhorod.
The Mukachevo-Carpathian Diocese of the OCU noted that the decision was made after reviewing the hieromonk’s request and completing the necessary procedures.
