In Transcarpathia, a college instructor falsely registered students who were evading military service

The Security Service of Ukraine detained Olga Tsanko, a teacher at the Svalyava Technical Vocational College, while she was accepting a bribe; she had organized a scheme to falsely enroll men in full-time programs. In exchange for granting deferrals from mobilization, the suspect demanded $700 from each person subject to military service.

According to investigators, Tetyana Kovalenko, a teaching methods instructor at the Kyiv Energy Vocational College, was also involved in the illegal activity, which allowed approximately 10 people to be enrolled in the fictitious program. Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the suspects’ residences and workplaces at the two educational institutions. The detained official has been charged under the article on obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, which carries a sentence of 5 to 8 years in prison.

In Poland, teachers from Odesa were detained after attempting to purchase a batch of diplomas from a Warsaw university.

Earlier in Kyiv, a 24-year-old law student was detained for offering men the opportunity to fictitiously “become students” at a Polish university for $10,000 with the aim of leaving the country.
