A scheme to smuggle soldiers into Slovakia for $32,000 was uncovered in Transcarpathia

In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officials uncovered a group that was organizing the illegal departure abroad of men of draft age and active-duty military personnel. The cost of smuggling them to Slovakia reached $32,000.

According to the investigation, the ringleader was a 55-year-old resident of Transcarpathia. She recruited accomplices aged 38 to 61 from the Transcarpathian and Ivano-Frankivsk regions to participate in the illegal activity.

According to investigators, the group members offered bribes to military unit officials to arrange for the illegal removal of conscripts from their posts. They also provided clients with temporary housing, transported them to the border zone, and coordinated their crossing of the border outside of official checkpoints.
