NABU and the SAPO have announced new charges in the Midas case against Energoatom’s former executive director for security

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have announced new charges against a former Energoatom official in connection with the “Midas” case. According to “Suspilne,” citing case files, the suspect is Dmytro Basov, the company’s former executive director for physical protection and security.

According to the investigation, the former official, who is referred to in the case files as “Tenor,” is suspected of laundering over 30 million hryvnias obtained through criminal means as part of a scheme that law enforcement officials call “shlagbaum.”

Investigators believe that between 2023 and 2025, the suspect used these funds to purchase two Mercedes-Benz cars worth over 8 million hryvnias, luxury real estate in Ukraine and on the Indonesian island of Bali with a total value of over 19 million hryvnias, as well as other luxury items.

According to the NABU and the SAP, the former official used cryptocurrency to conceal the origin of the funds and registered the property in the name of a close associate.

He is charged with the legalization of property obtained by criminal means (Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

NABU and the SAP conducted Operation “Midas” in November 2025. At that time, “Tenor,” “Rocket,” and five other individuals were first named as suspects. Subsequently, the former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Energy of Ukraine were added to the list of suspects.

The pretrial investigation is ongoing.

This was reported on July 10 in a statement by NABU, the SAPO, and Suspilne.

As a reminder, Oleksandr Zuckerman, a defendant in the high-profile “Midas” case, filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Administrative Court of Cassation.

Similarly, businessman Timur Mindich has already filed a lawsuit against President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Administrative Court of Cassation.
