The head of the Military Registration and Enlistment Office in Volyn was caught taking a bribe in exchange for a false declaration of unfitness for service
Law enforcement officials have charged the head of one of the regional recruitment and social support centers in Volyn Oblast, who was caught accepting a $7,000 bribe to arrange a false medical exemption from military service.
According to the investigation, in late March 2026, the official was approached regarding the possibility of a man subject to military service traveling abroad. In response, he offered to arrange for a temporary medical exemption regardless of the man’s actual health condition.
Investigators established that to carry out the scheme, medical documents with fabricated diagnoses were prepared without the actual completion of the necessary examinations. Afterward, the man underwent a medical examination with a predetermined result, and the relevant data was entered into the register of conscripts.

The State Bureau of Investigation believes that employees of the medical facility who issued the fictitious conclusions may also have been involved in the scheme. Law enforcement is currently investigating their role.
The court imposed a pretrial detention measure on the suspect, with the option of posting bail in the amount of 266,000 hryvnias. The bail has already been posted, and the official has been suspended from his duties.

Under the charges, he faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
