In Zaporizhzhia, a man injured three police officers during a search; the attacker was killed
The National Police of Ukraine reported an incident in Zaporizhzhia that occurred during a search, in which a man attacked law enforcement officers.
According to police, the suspect stabbed three officers. In response, the officers fired their weapons. The attacker died from his injuries.
"Today, June 11, at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the Zavodskyi district of Zaporizhzhia, during a lawful search of the residence of a suspect in a criminal case, an armed attack occurred against police officers," the National Police stated in a Telegram post on Thursday.
It is reported that during the investigative actions, the man suddenly attacked the law enforcement officers, used tear gas, and inflicted knife wounds on three police officers.
"Despite lawful demands to cease his unlawful actions, the attacker continued to offer armed resistance and posed an immediate threat to the lives and health of police officers. To avert mortal danger, one of the police officers used his service firearm. The attacker died as a result of his injuries," the police stated.
Three police officers with stab wounds have been hospitalized. Medical personnel are providing them with all necessary care.
An investigative team, employees of the State Bureau of Investigations, and other relevant agencies are working at the scene. A series of initial investigative measures is being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
