Fugitive MP Shakhov was spotted in Vienna in the company of Ukrainian politicians

Serhiy Shakhov, a member of parliament who has been on the run for three years, took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at a monument to Soviet soldiers in Vienna on May 9, 2026. The politician, who is suspected of fraud involving a declaration of 88 million hryvnias, appeared in the company of sanctioned oligarch Vadym Novynskyi, former MP Ihor Mosiychuk, and political analyst Kostya Bondarenko.

This became known from videos circulating online.

A special online platform and Telegram channel were created to organize and promote this event. Shakhov had previously been spotted in Dubai, though he claimed he was there for medical treatment. Despite being officially wanted by NABU and the SAPO, Shakhov still holds his parliamentary seat and even participates in meetings of the Rada’s environmental committee via video link.

As a reminder, Serhiy Shakhov is accused of intentionally omitting 13 apartments in the capital’s center, cottages near Kyiv, and land plots from his asset declaration. He has not appeared in the corridors of the Ukrainian parliament since early 2023, which has not prevented him from continuing his political activities remotely while living in an elite exile abroad.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court issued a warrant for the arrest of MP Serhiy Shakhov, as he has been evading court hearings on charges of making false declarations.

According to the investigation, in his 2020 declaration, Shakhov failed to list a two-story house in “Sunny Valley” in the village of Romankiv, Obukhiv District, near Kyiv, as well as his common-law wife Inna Zhurba and her assets.
