The National Bank of Ukraine has raised its forecast for international reserves at the end of 2026 to $69.7 billion, which is $4.9 billion more than the previous estimate.
The forecast for the end of 2027 has also been revised upward to $73.7 billion, or $7.2 billion more than previously expected.
The NBU noted that the increase in reserves will be made possible by the inflow of international financial assistance. At the same time, the regulator forecasts growing demand for foreign currency due to increased imports of components for weapons production, which will require more active participation by the National Bank in the foreign exchange market.
According to the NBU’s estimates, the total amount of direct budgetary support from international partners in 2026 could reach approximately $54 billion, which should be sufficient to cover the state budget deficit.
