Law enforcement officials uncovered three schemes to smuggle men across the border
Law enforcement officials uncovered and shut down three schemes involving the illegal smuggling of men of draft age across Ukraine’s state border. The organizers charged between 5,000 and 10,000 dollars for their services, promising to help the men enter Hungary illegally.
The operation was carried out by border guards in cooperation with officers from the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine. Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances surrounding the organizers’ activities and identifying the individuals involved in these illegal operations.

In the Volovets district of Zakarpattia Oblast, the organizer and his accomplice were detained after receiving an illegal payment of 10,500 U.S. dollars from a man who intended to cross the border illegally. In exchange for this sum, the smugglers promised to arrange for the offender to be transported across the border, bypassing official checkpoints.
In Svalyava, law enforcement officers detained a 59-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Operatives from the unit determined that the suspect, for $5,000, had transported a resident of the Ternopil region to Transcarpathia, instructed him on how to bypass checkpoints, and then planned to take him to the site where the Ukrainian-Hungarian border would be crossed.
In the Berehove district, a 25-year-old local resident was caught who, for $10,000, undertook to smuggle a man of draft age across the Tisa River. To do this, he provided the client with temporary lodging near the border and remotely coordinated his actions, specifically indicating the route to a border town and providing instructions on how to prepare for the illegal border crossing outside of official checkpoints. The suspect was detained in the village of Vylok after receiving an advance payment of $5,000 for his illegal services.
Preliminary investigations into the cases are ongoing.
