Germany, the United Kingdom, and Moldova have joined the Special Tribunal on Russia

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that three more countries have confirmed their readiness to join the Expanded Partial Agreement on the Special Tribunal to investigate Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine.

He made this announcement following the results of the EU Foreign Affairs Council’s meeting.

According to him, on Tuesday, March 31, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Moldova officially announced their accession to the agreement. At the same time, 13 member states of the Council of Europe and one non-member country are already ready to join the Special Tribunal.

Sibiga emphasized that 16 participants is only the legal minimum.

“We are counting on a much broader circle of participants. I urge all colleagues to actively work on expanding this list of states. I hope that additional announcements will be made in the coming days. We are actively working on this,” the minister noted.

Earlier, Latvia announced its intention to join the agreement on establishing a special tribunal for Russia regarding the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Riga stated that it supports the initiative to create an international mechanism to hold Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine.

Prior to this, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga reported significant progress on the issue of establishing a Special Tribunal to investigate Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine.
