Germany has confirmed its continued support for Ukraine in the area of social protection

Germany will continue to support Ukraine in the area of social protection, particularly with regard to assistance for families with children and Ukrainians under temporary protection in Germany.

This was stated by Marike Wulf, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth, and the Federal Government Commissioner for Children’s Affairs, during a meeting at the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

According to her, despite the war, Ukraine is demonstrating resilience and a rapid pace of reforms in the social sector.

“We are impressed by Ukraine’s resilience and the pace of social reforms taking place under extremely difficult conditions. Every Ukrainian contributes to our shared security. As long as the war continues, we must do everything possible to support the people,” she emphasized.

Separately, Marike Wolf underscored the importance of assisting Ukrainian families, particularly women with children and orphaned children, who are in Germany under temporary protection.

“Today, more than 1.2 million Ukrainian citizens are under temporary protection in Germany, and it is important for us to maintain constant contact with them, provide support, and ensure access to Ukrainian services. In this context, the Unity Center in Berlin has become an important tool for supporting and communicating with our citizens,” noted Ilona Gavronska.

The parties also discussed the need to further develop social services for Ukrainians both in Ukraine and abroad, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of mental health and combating violence.

The meeting also addressed further cooperation between Ukraine and Germany in developing psychological support systems and strengthening mechanisms to combat domestic violence.
