Ilarion himself made this statement.

According to the metropolitan, the first hours after his detention were the hardest. He claims that it was cold in the holding cell, there were no pillows, books, paper, or pens, and he was allegedly not provided with food.

Hilarion also stated that his time in the cell made him rethink the importance of everyday necessities, particularly access to hot water, hygiene products, and the ability to change clothes.

In the Czech Republic, the metropolitan was detained but later released without any official charges being filed.

In the Czech Republic, police released Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Hilarion and his driver after detaining them in Karlovy Vary without pressing charges. Despite this, the investigation continues, as forensic analysis confirmed the presence of a prohibited substance in the car.
