Germany issued a sharp response to Moscow following the attacks on Kyiv

The German Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador in Berlin following massive strikes on Ukraine and threats against foreign diplomatic missions in Kyiv. Berlin stated that Moscow is relying on terror and intimidation, but Germany has no intention of backing down and will continue to support Ukraine. The German Foreign Ministry reported this on social media platform X.

The German Foreign Ministry reacted sharply to Russia’s latest actions, which include massive strikes on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and statements perceived as attempts to pressure foreign diplomatic missions in Kyiv, and it was for this reason that the Russian ambassador was summoned to Berlin.

This was reported on the social media platform X, emphasizing that the attacks targeted hospitals, schools, and even media-related facilities, and were accompanied by calls to leave the Ukrainian capital, which Germany viewed as part of a systematic campaign of intimidation. “Attacks on hospitals, schools, and German TV studios, calls for our embassy to leave Kyiv: Russia is betting on threats, terror, and escalation. That is precisely why we summoned the Russian ambassador today,” the German Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry separately emphasized that despite the pressure and threats, Berlin has no intention of changing its position and will continue to support Ukraine, viewing Russia’s current actions as an attempt to intensify the escalation rather than seek a diplomatic resolution. “Today we made it clear to Russia: we will not be intimidated by threats, and we will continue to support Ukraine with all our might,” the ministry added.

Germany also noted that similar diplomatic steps have already been taken by the European Union, which previously summoned a Russian representative following Moscow’s statements about possible threats to foreign diplomats in Kyiv, further underscoring the tension in relations between Russia and the West.

Rüdiger von Fritsch, Germany’s former ambassador to Moscow, shared his observations on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s negotiating style.
