A new support point for Ukrainians in Poland: When the vice-consulate in Rzeszów will start operating

The new Ukrainian vice-consulate in Rzeszów will begin accepting citizens in the second half of December — technical setup and system connections are currently being completed. The consulate will serve Ukrainians from most of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, as well as those who register online from other regions of Poland. It will provide the full range of consular services — from issuing documents to assistance at border crossings.

Consul Vasyl Yordan explains: “Reception of citizens will begin once the entire system is established — the electronic queue, server connections, and so on. This will happen in the second half of December.”

The electronic appointment system is not active yet, but once launched, the consulate will be able to receive Ukrainians not only from the Subcarpathian Voivodeship but also those who officially register from other regions of Poland. According to Yordan, about 60,000 Ukrainians live in their area, and they will be able to receive the full range of consular services — from documents to notarial actions.

The office currently has three service windows for receiving citizens, and the staff is gradually being expanded. In addition to daily work with people, the consuls will represent Ukraine in relations with local authorities and respond to any requests or problems of Ukrainian citizens.

Particular attention will be given to border crossing points, which also fall under the responsibility of the vice-consulate: Krakivets–Korczowa, Shehyni–Medyka, Nyzhankovychi–Malhowice, Smilnytsia–Krościenko, and others. “We are already receiving requests from citizens at the border crossing points, and we are trying to help,” the consul says.

The consulate will also work with the medical hub at Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport, through which wounded soldiers and civilians are evacuated for treatment. “We handle all issues related to transporting critically ill people 24/7,” Yordan emphasizes. The consuls will also be responsible for visiting detained and convicted Ukrainians in local penitentiary facilities.
